Looking at Windows Media Player

By

For a long time now, a large number of computer users have made the windows media player their default selection for viewing and playing media on the Windows PC they own. Today though, with the coming of new codecs, some of these folks are finding it much more difficult to play on their long time favorite player any of these troublesome files. There are so many of these people that have organized and rated on this player their whole music library, and they are not looking to switch all of this to another media player. So many of these folks also have no idea what a codec is and exactly the reason for them getting any of these messages that can be so frustrating to receive. I recently ran into this when I was trying to set up my new Samsung notebook computer

To try and keep everything as simple as possible, I will explain what a codec is by simply stating it is the standard of how the media is encoded. Moving forward, one must have access to what is known as the "key". The "key" is basically a very small file which one has the ability to simply download and then add to their own Windows Media Player. This whole process is a simple one to implement. A sort of video format which is relatively small is what is known as the 3GP type. In most cases, this is the type used on mobile phones. After uploading onto the computer a video from the camera that is in that format known as 3GP, it is possible and probable that one will have difficulties viewing it. This is where the 3GP codec for Windows Media Player will be required. There are in fact literally hundreds of assorted websites where one will be offered singly packed codecs as well as offerings in which many codecs are included. One can and should go to the Microsoft website where they will find a number of codec packages designed for the most current version of Windows Media Player. These downloads are available free of charge for those who are users of Windows.

AAC Codec

The AAC codec is certainly not anywhere near as popular as the MP3 format to be sure. This is the main reason why there are much fewer examples available. This is a bit strange in one way as it is acknowledged to be far superior in the quality of the sound and the size in comparison to the MP3 format. This is the codec which is employed by Apple products such as iPad and iPhone as examples. In addition, a WMA built in to ACC converter is prominent on the iTunes Apple program. Although one will not find very many of these files near their Windows PC, if in fact they do, a AAC codec will be needed for the windows media player. One might also obtain this by going to the website www.free-codecs and downloading or by trying to locate the Windows Codec package.

AC3 Codec

The codec known as the AC3 is extremely important for seeing high quality MP3s and DVDs. The more well known name for this codec is Dolby Digital. Anyone experiencing difficulties on their Windows Media Player with the sound or any issues must have the AC3 audio codec for windows media player.

Those wanting to continue to use their familiar and comfortable Windows Media Player will have no shortage of sites to be found where they can download the free codecs they need and are looking to get. They are truly widely available.
